Crowns & Bridges

Durable Crowns and Reliable Bridges

Crowns and bridges restore function, protect weakened teeth and replace missing teeth with natural-looking results. At Sinolle Dental Clinic we use modern materials and digital workflows to deliver restorations that are strong, comfortable and matched to your smile.

When crowns or bridges are recommended

  • Large restorations where a filling would be insufficient.
  • To protect a tooth after root canal therapy.
  • Replace one or more missing teeth with a fixed bridge.
  • Improve appearance and function for worn, fractured or badly discoloured teeth.

Materials & options

We select materials based on strength needs, aesthetics and budget. Common options include:

  • All-ceramic / porcelain: Excellent aesthetics for front teeth with natural translucency.
  • Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM): Strong and reliable for posterior teeth where strength is critical.
  • Zirconia: Very strong and increasingly popular for both anterior and posterior crowns and bridges.

Digital impressions & temporary restorations

We use digital scanning for accurate impressions and predictable fits. While the final restoration is fabricated, a well-fitted temporary protects the tooth and preserves aesthetics and function.

The treatment process

  1. Assessment & planning: Clinical exam, x-rays and shade matching.
  2. Preparation: Tooth shaping to create space for the crown or bridge abutments, with local anaesthesia for comfort.
  3. Impression / scan: Digital scan or impression for the lab; temporary placed while the final restoration is made.
  4. Fitting & cementation: Final prosthesis is tried-in, adjusted for fit and bite, then permanently cemented.
  5. Follow-up: We review occlusion and provide home care and maintenance advice.

Longevity & care

With good oral hygiene and regular dental checks, crowns and bridges can last many years. Lifespan depends on material, bite forces and oral hygiene. Avoid using teeth as tools and manage habits like grinding with a nightguard when recommended.

Replacement & repair

Veneer or porcelain chipping can sometimes be repaired; full replacement may be needed for extensive wear or recurrent decay at margins. We assess and advise the most conservative option.

Alternatives & combination treatments

Depending on the situation alternatives include large adhesive onlays, implant-supported crowns for single missing teeth, or orthodontic solutions when space redistribution is needed. We often combine periodontal, endodontic or implant work as part of a comprehensive restorative plan.

Practical information & costs

Treatment usually requires two visits (preparation and fit) though same-day CAD/CAM crowns are available in selected cases. Costs vary by material and lab work; we provide a personalised written estimate and can discuss payment options or staged treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Will a crown look natural?
Yes — modern ceramics and skilled shading techniques allow crowns to match adjacent teeth closely. We use photographs and shade guides to ensure a natural result.
How long does cementation take?
The final cementation visit usually takes 30–60 minutes, including adjustments to bite and polishing.
Can I get an implant instead of a bridge?
Implants are an excellent option to replace single missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth. We discuss suitability, timelines and costs at your consultation.
